    2. The Managing Director has overall responsibility for equality and diversity compliance, while all managers are responsible for implementing and upholding this policy in their areas of control.

    3. Every staff member must:

      • Treat colleagues, clients, and learners with dignity and respect.

      • Refrain from discriminatory or harassing behaviour.

      • Report any concerns or incidents of discrimination or harassment immediately.

    • Lead by example in promoting equality and inclusion.

    • Ensure compliance with this policy at all times.

    • Take immediate and appropriate action to address any complaints of discrimination or harassment.

    Understanding Discrimination

    Direct Discrimination
Occurs when someone is treated less favourably because of a Protected Characteristic.
Example: refusing to employ someone due to their age, gender, or ethnicity.

    Indirect Discrimination
Occurs when a seemingly neutral condition or requirement disproportionately disadvantages people with a particular Protected Characteristic, unless justified by legitimate business need.
Example: requiring all employees to work specific shifts that exclude those with childcare responsibilities.

    Victimisation
Occurs when someone is treated less favourably because they have raised, or intend to raise, a complaint or supported someone else’s complaint under equality legislation.

    Harassment
Harassment is unwanted conduct related to a Protected Characteristic that violates a person’s dignity or creates a hostile, humiliating, or offensive environment. This includes sexual harassment and harassment by association or perception.
    Examples include:

    • Derogatory remarks, insults, or jokes about someone’s background or identity.

    • Unwelcome physical contact or sexual advances.

    • Exclusion, intimidation, or deliberate isolation of individuals.

    • Displaying offensive materials or images.

    Disability and Reasonable Adjustments

Alpha Security Services is committed to supporting employees and learners with disabilities. We will:

    • Make reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled individuals are not disadvantaged.

    • Treat any disclosures confidentially and sensitively.

    • Consult with the individual to determine the most appropriate form of support.

Managers are required to seek advice from the Director regarding reasonable adjustments and disability-related matters.

    Fair Employment Practices

    • All employment and promotion decisions will be based on objective, fair, and transparent criteria.

    • Recruitment materials will avoid bias and promote opportunities to a diverse audience.

    • We will not ask about health, disability, or personal matters before a job offer is made, except where lawful and necessary.

    • We will verify the right to work in the UK for all employees.

Alpha Security Services monitors recruitment data (including gender, ethnicity, disability, and age) to ensure fairness and improve diversity across the organisation.

    Training, Development, and Promotion

    • All employees will have equal access to training and development opportunities.

    • Promotions and career progression decisions will be made solely on merit and business need.

    • Managers will receive equality and diversity training to ensure fair and inclusive decision-making.

    Discipline, Grievance, and Complaints

    • Any breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal for gross misconduct.

    • If you believe you have experienced or witnessed discrimination or harassment, you should raise your concern through the Company’s Grievance Procedure.

    • All complaints will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly.

    • No individual will suffer victimisation for raising a genuine complaint in good faith.

    Review and Continuous Improvement

This policy will be reviewed annually by the Director to ensure ongoing compliance with legislation and relevance to the company’s operations. Staff are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
